The motion to create Dozier Elementary in the RF school building and add needed rooms was made by Erath school board member from Ward 1, U.P. LeBlanc. Joe Kite was Superintendent at that time.

A photo taken by Erath photographer Nodily Faulk of the Dozier Elementary campus in 1978, six after the school opened its doors. By then, six new classrooms, a library, and the Kindergarten Mall (3 rooms) had been added.

After a 25 year wait, a new cafeteria was built in 1997. The ribbon cutting event took place on November 6, 1997. In early 2000s, the another new addition housing 3rd and 4th grade was built.
